I have already been in my second home for almost 3 months now: South Africa.
And what is it a beautiful country, where much happens. On my internship I now receive my own clients. I have to speak African. The problems here are fierce: there is a great deal of “substance abuse” among parents, which causes the children to live here and so we have to place a lot of children out of the house. Many young people also use stuff such as alcohol and glu and thereby skip school. These are a few examples of what we have to deal with on a daily basis.
Despite the fact that it is intense, it is very nice to be able to make a small difference in the community as a social work student.
In addition to the heavy work, there are plenty of fun things to do in the weekends.
Summarized, in Afrikaans: die lewe is lekker hier en ek geniet suid afrika baie
