August 5th Emilie (Saturday)
In weekends the group does not work on the project, that’s why we had the day off to relax. However the relaxing changed quickly in a rescue mission. While many of us where reading books the surroundings began to make a crackling sound. When we looked up, the field was on fire. Luckily the group transformed in true firemen and therefore the problem was solved quickly. Furthermore we made a wild ride in the evening, but sadly most of the animals were asleep.
August 6th Emilie (Sunday)
Today we would leave at 07.10. Which was the only information we got to know for the day. Once we stepped in the Safari-car many of the group members where scared of the bumps and the corresponding launches. The destination of the trip was the house of Jaco en Christel,(which are the owners of the house where we are staying and the Safari area). At the house we saw how the goats were fed. That was an extraordinary experience.
Of course we didn’t come all the way to Africa to feed goats. We had a bigger plan. After the goats we went with Jaco and his employers to feed other animals, which were a little bit bigger than the normal goat. In addition to feeding multiple wild animals, one of the animals needed an vaccination. This was done by shooting an arrow in his butt. fortunately Jaco is an excellent shooter. After all the animals were fed we went back to the house. Mart had to show his shooting skills. However he sucked at it and the bullet missed his target completely.
After that we searched for kameelperden (translation: Giraffes). Despite the length of the giraffes we could not spot them. Only when we had conquered a mountain we found 2 stretching their long legs. Than the chase began which resulted in beautiful pictures.
